About Rating Systems

FIDE: The official international rating system. Most accurate for over-the-board tournament play.
USCF: Used in the United States. Generally 20-100 points higher than FIDE ratings.
ECF: English grading system using a different scale (0-280). Conversion: FIDE ≈ 7.5 × ECF + 700.
Online Ratings: Lichess and Chess.com ratings typically run 150-300 points higher than FIDE due to different player pools and time controls.
Important: Online ratings should not be directly compared to over-the-board ratings. Playing conditions, time controls, and player pools differ significantly.
